Brewing news Nigeria: The Nigerian Breweries takes off a science laboratory for N50 mln

The Nigerian Breweries Plc has laid the foundation stone for the immediate take off of N50 million science laboratory for the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Vanguard Media posted on March 20.

Managing Director of NB Plc, Mr. Festus Odimegwu had pledged the laboratory after he was conferred with an honorary Doctor of Science in Business Administration by the institution during its 35th Convocation ceremony at Nsukka recently.

Less than a month after the pledge was made the brewery giant went back to UNN to start the construction of the lab with a colourful ceremony marking the turning of sod.

In his speech at the occasion, Odimegwu said that “as a socially responsible corporate organisation with outstanding credentials in excellence and partnership” the company was back to UNN to keep its promise. “We have come here today to reassure the University of our total commitment to building a world class science laboratory to enhance the quality of learning in UNN and for others who may have need to use this facility,” he said.

Odimegwu, who was represented at the occasion by the Corporate Communications Adviser, Mr. Chuma Ibe, noted that the turning of the sod would lay the foundation for a “seamless and timely execution of the project” in line with the company’s “commitment to uplifting education in our great country”.
